Te Tiriti o Waitangi (or the Treaty of Waitangi) was first signed at Waitangi in the Bay of Islands on 6 February 1840.  Today Waitangi Day is public holiday marked with events all over New Zealand – but none quite as special as spending it right here in the Bay of Islands!
